Treatment of teeth grinding and temporomandibular joint disorders in Zurich
Welcome to Dr. Lehmann's dental practice - your point of contact for the treatment of teeth grinding and temporomandibular joint disorders in Zurich. We know how stressful and painful these problems can be and offer you effective solutions to relieve your symptoms. One tried and tested method that we use is custom-made night guards.
The problem with grinding teeth
Grinding your teeth is not only annoying, but can also lead to serious problems. Many people suffer from unconscious grinding or clenching of their teeth, both during the day and while sleeping. This so-called bruxism can lead to toothache, tooth enamel wear, headaches, muscle tension and other unpleasant symptoms.
Protection and relief with custom-made night guards
Our solution: custom-made night guards, also known as bite guards. These guards offer effective protection for your teeth and can alleviate accompanying discomfort. They are individually adapted to your tooth structure and jaw and therefore offer the highest level of comfort.
The function of a night guard is very simple: it acts as a kind of protective shield for your teeth by transferring the pressure you exert when grinding or clenching to the guard. This protects your teeth from excessive wear.
Versatile applications of night guards
Night guards are used not only to treat bruxism, but also to treat various other problems related to teeth grinding and TMJ disorders. Here are some of the most common uses of night guards:
Bruxism : The splints protect your teeth from excessive wear and reduce associated symptoms such as toothache, tooth enamel wear, headaches and muscle tension.
Temporomandibular joint disorders : In patients with temporomandibular joint disorders such as temporomandibular joint dislocations, disc displacement or arthritis, a night guard can stabilize the jaw and relieve pain.
Tension headaches : Night guards can also be used for tension headaches caused by tense jaw muscles. Wearing the guard reduces muscle activity and can relieve the headache.
Sleep apnea : In cases of mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, a special mandibular advancement device can be used to keep the airways open and reduce snoring and breathing pauses during sleep.
Our experienced and compassionate dental practice in Zurich is here to help you determine the appropriate treatment option for your specific concerns. We will conduct a thorough diagnosis and create your individual night guard to provide you with effective relief and protection.
